Synopsis: The year is 2009. Nineteen-year-old Jackson Meyer is a normal guy… he’s in college, has a girlfriend… and he can travel back through time. But it’s not like the movies – nothing changes in the present after his jumps, there’s no space-time continuum issues or broken flux capacitors – it’s just harmless fun.
That is… until the day strangers burst in on Jackson and his girlfriend, Holly, and during a struggle with Jackson, Holly is fatally shot. In his panic, Jackson jumps back two years to 2007, but this is not like his previous time jumps. Now he’s stuck in 2007 and can’t get back to the future.
Desperate to somehow return to 2009 to save Holly but unable to return to his rightful year, Jackson settles into 2007 and learns what he can about his abilities.
But it’s not long before the people who shot Holly in 2009 come looking for Jackson in the past, and these “Enemies of Time” will stop at nothing to recruit this powerful young time-traveler. Recruit… or kill him.
Piecing together the clues about his father, the Enemies of Time, and himself, Jackson must decide how far he’s willing to go to save Holly… and possibly the entire world.
My Reactions/Thoughts: This was the first time traveling novel that I have read, and to be honest, Julie Cross did a fantastic job at executing the story! I liked the fact that although the novel did revolve around the relationship between Holly and Jackson, the whole story line did not get caught up into their relationship alone. The time traveling aspect did play a big role in the story as well: which I really enjoyed! Going into this book, I had no idea what was going to happen. (I don't know much about time traveling.) However, as I got to the middle of the book, I began to learn a lot about Jackson, his father, and the HUGE secret that he has been keeping from him! (OH. MY. GOSH.) Also, when you think of time traveling, you begin to fascinate about the ability to change the past, and have it affect the present as well. But not this book. No. Jackson's ability is completely different, and I really liked that! He can jump into the past, kill somebody, and when he travels back to the future: NOTHING HAS CHANGED. How amazing is that? Well, I guess it can go both ways. Not being able to change the past prevents you from, lets say, saving somebody from a tragic experience. However, it does allow Jackson to travel freely and visit old memories. But anyways, this story is filled with action, romance, and DEFINITELY suspense. Towards the end of the book, you discover something that will knock your socks off! I gave this star a 5 out of 5 on Goodreads! :)
I hope you enjoyed my review :)
